Three Volumes House
With respect to the landscape three different stone volumes have been designed to form this summer house. The main house is separated from the guest house by a courtyard – patio covered by a wooden pergola, in front of which is the swimming pool. These volumes house the main functions of the residence, and vary in height and dimensions. The entrance is formed by a niche covered with wood, while the openings are designed to resemble traditional Cretan structures.
The volumes join together to form a play of interior and outdoor spaces, patios and semi-sheltered areas, in harmony with the Mediterranean climate and the natural landscape.
The water element plays a significant role through two main water volumes: the swimming pool and a shallow pond that serves not only as a reflective and decorative area, but also as a temperature regulator during the hot Cretan summers.
